2009 Limited Reserve Tannat

The 2009 Vintage was an ideal growing year, which allowed us to harvest fruit from the vineyard site as different times - about a week between picking.  Several years before we expanded the Tannat fruit on our vineyard sites.  And in 2009, it was ready to be used to make wine.  The new blocks allowed us not to divide the Tannat fruit to produce the Late Harvest Tannat.  The fruit was destemmed and hand sorted before fermentation.  Based on the success of the previous vintage, wine maker Jason Murray, elected to used native yeast a second year.  After 20-day duration of skin contact the fruit was pressed and moved to French Oak barrels for 22 months of aging.  Jason proclaims that the 2009 Limited Reserve Tannat will be the best one yet!

Wine Focus:  This wine matches an ideal Virginia vintage (weather) with managerd native yeast; truest expression of Virginia terroir - specifically site location.  Expect this wine to develop extreme body, depth, weight, and maturity.
